Begins: Florida state line, in Grady County near Decatur County line.
Ends: Tennessee state line, at Rossville in Walker County.
Total Mileage: About 358 miles.
Freeway Mileage: 5 miles around Bainbridge (multiplexed with US 84, and GA 38); less than 3 miles at Rome (multiplexed with US 411, GA 53 and GA 20).
Counties Passed: Grady, Decatur, Miller, Early, Clay, Randolph, Stewart, Chattahoochee, Muscogee, Harris, Troup, Heard, Carroll, Haralson, Polk, Floyd, Chattooga, Walker, Catoosa, back into Walker.

Named The Tennessee-Columbus Military Highway, from Columbus to the Tennessee state line. Named The Joe Wheeler Highway, from intersection with GA 101 in Floyd County to Tennessee state line. Intersection of GA 1/US 27 , GA 101 and GA 20/US 411 in Floyd County is the A.W. Ledbetter Interchange. Named Frank M. Gleason Parkway, from Fort Oglethorpe City Limits to Shields' Crossing in Walker County. Syble W. Brannan Parkway, the new portion of GA 1/US27 bypassing Cedartowm in Polk County. The Walter E. Cox Parkway, all of GA 1/US 27 through Decatur County.

Begins: Intersection with GA 193 near Flintstone in Walker County.
Ends: South Carolina state line, SE of Clayton in Rabun County.

Battlefield Parkway between Interstate 75 and Fort Oglethorpe in Catoosa County. Desmond T. Doss Medal Of Honor Highway between GA 193 and GA 1/US 27 in Walker and Catoosa Counties. Brigadier General John R. Hullender Highway, between intersection with GA 3/US 41 in Catoosa County and intersection with GA 201 in Whitfield County. Rev. Begins: Florida state line, south of Thomasville in Thomas County.

GEORGIA 4
Begins: Florida state line at the St. Mary's River, south of Folkston in Charlton County.

Charles Durst Memorial Highway, from southern city limit of Lyons to northern bank of Altamaha River in Toombs County. L.C. "Shot" Strange Highway, from Interstate 16 to the Toombs County line in Emanuel County.


GEORGIA 5
Begins: Alabama state line, south of Bowden in Carroll County.
Ends: Tennessee state line, at McCaysville in Fannin County.
Total Mileage: About 160 miles.

Designations: Lookout Mountain Scenic Highway, from Tennessee State Line to intersection with US 76/GA 2 & 515 at Blue Ridge in Fannin County. The C.F. "Coote" Mason Highway is another name for the same route in Fannin County. The Zell Miller Mountain Parkway, through Pickens and Gilmer Counties. Part of Chieftans Trail, between Ellijay and Canton. The Robert D. "Bob" Tisinger Highway, from intersection with US 27 Alt/GA 16 at Whitesburg to intersection with GA 100 near Alabama State Line in Carroll County.


GEORGIA 6
Begins: Alabama state line, near Esom Hill in Polk County.
Ends: Intersection with I-85, exit 18A, at Hartsfield International Airport near Fulton/Clayton County Line.
Total Mileage: About 72 miles.

Notes: Eastern end of highway is Camp Creek Parkway. Shortest single-digit state route.
Designations: The Joe Wheeler Highway, from intersection with US 78/GA 8 near Austell in Douglas County to intersection with GA 101 north of Rockmart in Polk County. The C.H. "Fat" James, Sr. Memorial Highway, between Austell and Powder Springs in Cobb County. The Nathan Dean Parkway, from GA 6 Business west of Rockmart to Coots Lake Road east of Rockmart in Polk County. The Jimmy Lee Campbell Memorial Highway, through the city limits of Dallas in Paulding County. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, from US 27 Business east to the Cedartown City Limits in Polk County. Entire route through Paulding County is designated The Wendy Bagwell Parkway.

Begins: Florida state line, at Lowndes/Echols County line
Ends: US 19 / GA 3, south of Griffin in Spalding County.

Notes: Multiplexed with US 41 and/or US 341 for entire route. Multiplexed with I-75 for 7 miles between exits 6 and 7 in Lowndes County.
Designations: Named General Courtney Hodges Boulevard from Big Indian Creek Bridge to the Georgia Agricenter and Fairgrounds at Perry in Houston County. The George B. Culpepper Highway, from the Fort Valley City Limits in Peach County south to the intersection of the Perry Bypass/GA 11 Connector in Houston County. Elmore C. Thrash Parkway, between Interstate 75 and the Willacoochee River in Lowndes County.


GEORGIA 8
Begins: Alabama state line, west of Tallapoosa in Haralson County.
Ends: South Carolina state line, at Savannah River in Hart County.
Total Mileage: About 185 miles.
Freeway Mileage: 9 miles around Athens on Paul Broun Parkway (Athens Perimeter).

Begins: US 41 ("Northside Drive"), in Atlanta in Fulton County.
Ends: Intersection of US 19 and US 129 / GA 11, in Lumpkin County.

GEORGIA 10
Begins: I-85 / I-75 exit 96, Downtown Atlanta in Fulton County.
Ends: South Carolina state line (Savannah River), at Augusta in Richmond County.
Total Mileage: About 173 miles.
Freeway Mileage: About 1 mile at beginning off I-85 / I-75; 4 miles near Stone Mountain Park; 4 miles around Monroe.
Counties Passed: Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Walton, Oconee, Clarke, Oglethorpe, Wilkes, McDuffie, Columbia, Richmond.
Notes: First two miles make up Freedom Parkway, leading to Carter Presidential Library. Multiplexed with US 78 from Stone Mountain to South Carolina line. GA 10 Loop comprises Athens perimeter highway (19 miles).
Designations: Stone Mountain Memorial Highway, from Atherns to Atlanta, through Clark, Oconee, Walton, Gwinnett, DeKalb and Fulton Counties. Part of The Joe Wheeler Parkway, from intersection with GA 47 at Washington in Wilkes County to intersection with GA 8 in DeKalb County. Part of Jefferson Davis Memorial Highway (Alt. (Fortson was Secretary of State for Georgia during 1947 "Three Governors Controversy", preventing a coup by hiding the State Seal in his wheelchair. A great story!)


GEORGIA 11
Begins: Florida state line, south of Statenville in Echols County.
Ends: North Carolina state line, north of Ivy Log in Union County.
Total Mileage: About 385 miles.

Counties Passed: Echols, Lanier, Berrien, Irwin, Ben Hill, Wilcox, Pulaski, Houston, Bibb, Jones, Jasper, Newton, Walton, Barrow, Jackson, Hall, White, Lumpkin, Union.
Notes: Multiplexed with US 129 for 139 miles in south Georgia, and 89 miles in north Georgia.
Designations: Entire route is the Andrew Jackson Highway. Named Crawford W. Long Highway from Gainesville in Hall County to Jefferson in Jackson County. The Monticello Crossroads Scenic Byway, from Monticello southern city limits north to the Newton County line.


GEORGIA 12
Begins: Somewhere in Decatur, in DeKalb County, along US 278.
Ends: Intersection with I-520 at exit 4, at Augusta in Richmond County.
Total Mileage: About 150 miles.
Freeway Mileage: 16 miles multiplexed with I-20, between exits 39 and 45, in DeKalb, Rockdale and Newton Counties.
Counties Passed: DeKalb, Rockdale, Newton, Walton, Morgan, Greene, Taliaferro, Warren, McDuffie, Columbia, Richmond.
Notes: Multiplexed with US 278 for entire route.
Designations: In 1935, named Alexander H. Stephens Highway from Atlanta in Fulton County to Augusta in Richmond County (GA 12 currently ends in Decatur in DeKalb County) In 1937, part of Thomas E. Watson Highway, from GA 16 at Warrenton in Warren County to US 25/GA 121 at Augusta in Richmond County. In 1968, named Jefferson Davis Memorial Highway (Route 1), from Atlanta (see previous note) to Augusta.


GEORGIA 13
Begins: US 19 / GA 9, near the I-85/I-75 split in midtown Atlanta in Fulton County.
Ends: Intersection with GA 369 in Gainesville, Hall County.
Total Mileage: About 50 miles.
Freeway Mileage: 4 miles in midtown Atlanta, parallel to I-85 north.
Counties Passed: Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Hall.
Notes: Multiplexed with US 23 for most of route.
Designations: In 1938, this new paved road from Atlanta in Fulton County to Buford in Gwinnett County was named the Bona Allen Memorial Highway.


GEORGIA 14
Begins: Alabama line at West Point in Troup County.
Ends: Downtown Atlanta, in Fulton County, near intersection of Peters and Spring Streets.
Total Mileage: About 90 miles.

Notes: Multiplexed with US 29 for all of route except last mile in Atlanta.


GEORGIA 15
Begins: Florida state line, at St. Mary's River, south of Folkston in Charlton County.

Total Mileage: About 355 miles.
Freeway Mileage: About 8 miles around Athens.
Counties Passed: Charlton, Ware, Pierce, Appling, Toombs, Montgomery, Treutlen, Emanuel, Johnson, Washington, Hancock, Greene, Oconee, Clarke, Jackson, Banks, Habersham, Rabun.
Notes: Multiplexed with US 441 for about 97 miles, and US 1 for about 41 miles. Widening is underway along portions of GA 15/US 441. From Tallulah Falls (Habersham-Rabun County Line) to Baldwin (Habersham County) the highway is four lane divided. A short stretch south of Baldwin, shown on 2000 GA DOT map as complete actually isn't. Then a stretch, about 8 to 9 miles long, from around GA 105 to about 3 miles north of Homer (Banks County) is complete and open. Plans are to widen GA 15/US 441 on to Athens (Clarke County).


GEORGIA 16
Begins: Intersection with GA 100 south of I-20 in Haralson County.
Ends: Intersection with US 278 at Warrenton in Warren County.
Total Mileage: About 200 miles.

Notes: GA 16 formerly continued southeast from Warrenton to US 1, north of Wrens. That is now part of GA 80. (AAA still lists this as GA 16)

Begins: Intersection with I-16, exit 31, in Chatham County.
Ends: North Carolina state line in Towns County.
Total Mileage: About 300 miles.

Notes: Multiplexed with US 411 between Rome and Cartersville. Makes loop from northwest of Atlanta around the north, east, and into the south side.
